Bob DeMayo, who coached baseball for 64 years at North Haven High, retired on Monday. DeMayo won over 900 games in his career and five state titles, the last in 2015. - Scot Wenzel is returning to Newington High School as boys basketball coach after coaching at Plainville High the past two seasons, Newington athletic director Christopher Meyers announced Monday.
- Waterbury native and Crosby High School golfer Laniah Moffett has been chosen to play alongside a PGA Tour Champions player at the famous Pebble Beach golf course in California.
- The PlayFPN Summer Nationals, a youth pastpitch softball tournament for 12UB, 14U, 14UB and 16UB divisions, begins Tuesday at Fastpitch Nation Park in Windsor. The tournament brings 77 teams and more than 1,000 players to the state for the five-day event.
- West Hartford’s bats were on fire in a hot and humid game against NCL (Windsor/Windsor Locks) in a win-or-go-home American Legion playoff game, on July 19.
