Regional digest: Fisher Cats down Yard Goats, 11-6

Rafael Antigua broke open a tie game with a three-run home run in the eighth inning to lead the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to an 11-6 win over the Hartford Yard Goats in an Eastern League Northeast Division game on Wednesday night in Manchester, N.H.

Hartford has now lost three of four and is 4-4 in the early portion of the second half.

The Yard Goats took an early lead when Kyle Datres walked, stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice fly and came home when teammate Daniel Montano was thrown out trying to steal second. New Hampshire bounced back with a four-run third led by a bases-clearing triple by Trevor Schwecke.

Hartford closed the gap on Michael Toglia’s two-run homer in the sixth and pulled into a 6-6 tie in the seventh on a two-run homer by Hunter Stovall and a solo blast by Montano. Stephen Jones (3-1) took the loss for the Yard Goats in relief.

Hartford Athletic earns tie at Detroit

Andre Lewis scored at the 57-minute mark to lift the Hartford Athletic into a 1-1 tie in a USL Championship game at Detroit FC.Hartford (4-10-4) fell behind on a first-half goal by Detroit’s Pato Botello Faz 20 minutes into the game.

The Athletic return home for a match on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at 7 p.m. at Trinity Health Stadium.
