Amazing Animalz is a friendly, local pet store

Amazing Animalz is a small, locally-owned pet store offering pets, supplies and services.

Patricia Doubleday opened the store after being a groomer for more than 20 years, inspired by her passion for and love of animals. Mike DiFazio started working at the store in 2009 when he was a senior in college, and became a partner in the business about 7 years ago. Currently, the business supports 3 employees in addition to the owners.

“We carry a wide variety of exotic and domestic pets and supplies,” said DiFazio. Live animals offered by the business include fish, reptiles, small animals and birds.

“We tend to carry the more unique animals and supplies that the big box stores do not carry, to set us apart,” said DiFazio, noting that this is a crucial factor in surviving as a small business in today’s climate. Friendly, quality service and affordable prices are also appreciated by customers.

Grooming services are offered by the owner personally, and are available for both dogs and cats. You can book anything from simple nail clippings to show-worthy cuts.

“Pat has been grooming for over 30 years, and is a master at her craft,” said DiFazio.

Also offered are aquarium set-up and maintenance services.

“We offer top-quality aquatic services,” said DiFazio, noting that both fresh water and salt water set-up are available, as well as tank maintenance and upkeep.

And another service setting Amazing Animalz apart from big box stores are Animal Shows. You can book a show, featuring a wide variety of exotic and domestic animals, for a birthday party, company event, or educational program.

Despite the fact that the store was deemed an essential business, and therefore did not have to close due to COVID-19, DiFazio said they have been affected by the pandemic. With folks cutting costs, and doing more shopping online, the store’s bottom line has been affected.

DiFazio said that the best way that the community can support Amazing Animalz, and other small buinesses, is to shop small and local first, before heading out to big box stores.

“We offer very competitive pricing, and customer service and knowledge that the big stores do not have,” said DiFazio. “We also offer customer loyalty rewards as a thank you to all our loyal customers, who help support us and the community.”

Watch the company’s Facebook page for information about an upcoming Valentine’s Day pet event, where owners can bring in their pets and get pictures taken with them. The page also announces other events and specials, as well as newly-arrived animals.
