Garden Club presents talk with Belding Wildlife steward

Enfield — ENFIELD – Jane Seymour of the CT DEEP and steward of the Belding Wildlife Management Area will be the guest speaker at the July 27 meeting of the Enfield Garden Club.

Enfield Library hosting storytime, puppet program, creative thinking, more

ENFIELD – The Enfield Public Library, 104 Middle Road, is hosting the following events. Call 860-763-7518 or visit for more information.

Using your choice of building materials, LEGO®, DUPLO®, Keva Planks® or Roominates® see what you can build in an hour at the Builders Club program on Friday, July 22, at 3:45 p.m. This is a drop-in program. Work independently or with friends.


The library will be hosting “Storytimes in the Park” at different parks in town throughout the summer. The next storytime will be held at Brainerd Park on Brainard Road on Monday, July 25, at 2 p.m. Bring a blanket.

Sit down by the ‘campfire’ for stories of outdoor adventures on Wednesday, July 27, at 10 a.m. Caravan puppets will use handcrafted puppets to share tales that include Tortoise and the Hare and The Enchanted Horse. Free tickets are available at for children ages three and up.

Learning to See: An Interrelationship with Creative Thinking with Fred Bird will take place Wednesday, July 27, at 6:30 p.m.

Bird, the owner of Fred Bird Photography, will present a two-hour lecture entitled Creative Thinking and Learning to See. The seminar will help anyone who wishes to really see the world that is around them. Bird will be displaying his photography in the library’s Community Room during August.

Somersville Church hosting fundraiser supper

SOMERSVILLE – The Congregational Church of Somersville will hold a takeout-only fundraising supper on Saturday, July 30. The menu includes ½-barbecued chicken, pasta salad, baked beans, corn and a dessert.

Cost is $15 per meal and will be available for pick-up at the church, located at 22 Maple St., between 4 to 6 p.m. To reserve meals, contact the church office at or 860-749-7741.
