St. Patrick’s Day parades
It’s a full weekend of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. On March 14, Hartford’s annual parade kicks off at 11 a.m., traveling from Capital Ave. to the Memorial Arch. More information at irishamericanparade.com. The party continues on March 15 in New Haven with a parade beginning at 1:30 p.m. from Chapel Ave. to Orange Street. Foxwoods celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with a Get Shamrocked Pub Crawl March 15, featuring food and drink specials at participating property locations. Tickets are $10. Shamrocked kicks off at 1 p.m. at The Celebration Zone on the retail concourse of the Great Cedar hotel and ends at 5 p.m. at Centrale Fox Tower. Information: foxwoods.com/shamrocked.
The first of four St. Patrick’s Day-themed O’races starts and finishes outside Kinsmen Brewing Co. in Southington on March 14. Race begins at 10 a.m. Registration required for runners $10 to $38, free for spectators. Want to take on the Lucky Challenge? Run all four O’race 5Ks across Connecticut and earn the “big bling.” medal. Start in Southington at O’Shenanigans, then run the Courthouse O’Putnam, O’Niantic and O’Hartford. Final days for the Jewish Film Fest
You still have time to catch the last couple days of the 24th annual Mandell JCC Hartford Jewish Film Fest which runs until March 15 in venues in Hartford, West Hartford and Bloomfield. A Taste of Ireland
The Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society in West Hartford is hosting a dinner in honor of St. Patrick’s Day on March 13 and 14, featuring Irish fare, craft beer, and live music. Dinner at 6 p.m. each night includes dishes like Irish soda bread and butter; salad and pickled beets; Irish beef and stout stew; and apple crisp. Tickets are $45; $40 for members. Baby Grand Jazz
Hartford Public Library presents the Iris Ornig Quartet on March 15 as part of its Baby Grand Jazz music series.
